A message from Odyssey Health Club fitness coach Faye Petts…
A Month In…
I have just walked into my house (from my garden) opened up my laptop and sat down to write this for anyone who needs this right now.
It was just another day in isolation started out like usual, breakfast, shower, dress, walk Phoebe (dog), a bit of gardening. I was reading my book when once again my phone makes the daily noise ‘Ping!’ A friend of mine, a novice to exercise sends me a photo of herself looking red, sweaty, tired but truly invigorated and satisfied with the caption…
“Literally feel like I’m about to pass out! Working out is hard! I don’t know how you enjoy it Faye”.
It then dawned on me! I haven’t done a workout in 6 days! How did this happen? I can only come to the conclusion that I had slowly started to lose motivation and slowly slide into a slower (if not oto slow) pace of life due to being isolated.
For any of you who know me, exercise is a passion and part of my daily life so not even noticing I had not exercised in 6 days came as quite a shock!
The reason I am sharing this is that we are now a month into isolation I am guessing many of us have completed our DIY projects at home and are now feeling unsure what to do with ourselves.
The real reason I write this is because after receiving that message I was motivated to put my trainers on and set a HIIT circuit up in my garden.
I completed the workout in 30 minutes and wow do I feel great! Energised, and invigorated just as my friend looked!
Please dust of your trainers, set up a simple home exercise circuit from the massive library of workouts that are available. Just set yourself a daily goal to raise your heart rate. I promise you that when you finish you will feel amazing. You would have completed that goal you set out to do that day!
For anyone who says ‘I don’t have time’. This is your time!
Start small and improve.
